    Do you enjoy spending a significant amount of time outside in the summer? If this is the case, make absolutely sure you exactly know how to protect yourself from the sun’s extreme heat. Here are a few tips on how to save yourself from the extreme heat wave.

    The summer months mean long days, warm weather, and plenty of sunshine—sounds picturesque and perfect but with global warming this means a lot of unbearable heat. Not only will you sweat a lot more, but the heat will also make you feel uncomfortable, exhausted, and even puts you at risk of passing out. Anyone, including the young and healthy, can be affected by extreme heat. When the weather gets hot, you want to do everything you can to keep yourself and your family safe. If you’re intending on spending time outside this summer, you should consider how you can stay protected from the extreme heat waves. You can enjoy the summer without worrying about the heat if you prepare properly and follow a few simple tips.

    1. PROTECT YOUR SKIN

    Exposed skin is more exposed to the sun’s harmful UV rays, making it important to protect it. If at all possible, avoid going out in the sun and instead go out during the cooler times of the day, such as evenings or nights. To avoid sun damage, apply a sunscreen with at least an SPF of 40. Using an anti-chafing cream will also help to prevent redness and soreness. Additionally, some drugs may affect how your skin reacts to excessive sun exposure. As a result, it’s a good idea to ask your doctor about the possible side effects of various medications.

    2. STAY HYDRATED

    Keep in mind that you’ll need to drink more water when it’s hot, which means you’ll need to drink more water than usual. If you’re sweating a lot, you’ll need to replace electrolytes by eating a tiny quantity of food with your water or drinking electrolyte replacement drinks that are particularly prepared. Thirst is the first indicator of dehydration; you should drink enough fluids before you feel thirsty to avoid being dehydrated.

    3. WEAR BREATHABLE CLOTHING

    In the summer, it’s essential to dress with breathable, lightweight clothing to keep your body temperature under control in the hot sun. Instead of wearing heavy clothing, you can use natural fabrics like cotton and linen. In addition to the first step, wearing long-sleeved clothing, caps, and light scarves can help protect your skin from hazardous UV rays. Light-colored clothing can reflect the sun’s brilliant rays, allowing your body to stay a little warmer. Wearing dark-colored clothing, such as black or brown, on the other hand, absorbs those rays, making you feel hotter than usual.

    4. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF COOLING POWER OF WATER

    Soak your feet in buckets or basins filled with water. When worn on the shoulders or head, wet towels and bandannas can provide some relief. Take cool showers or baths, and consider spritzing yourself with a spray bottle filled with cold water throughout the day.

    5. ENSURE THAT YOUR HOUSE IS WELL-VENTILATED.

    Opening the house’s doors and using box fans to force push hot air outside can act as an “exhaust” system, drawing cooler evening air in. Open all windows and create as much air circulation as possible in the chilly evenings. Close all doors and windows as soon as the sun rises, making sure to close drapes and blinds as well, to keep the indoors as cool as possible. Open the windows and turn on the fans again when the outside air cools to a lower temperature than the indoor air (typically in the evenings or at night).

    6. AVOID CONSUMING ALCOHOLIC OR CAFFEINATED BEVERAGES

    When the weather is excessively hot, alcoholic and caffeinated beverages are not recommended. Because you’re already sweating, these beverages will increase your fluid loss, making you thirstier than before. If you’re out in the sun, stick to water and fruit juices to stay hydrated. If you wish to drink coffee or any alcoholic beverages, do so in a cool environment so your body doesn’t have to work as hard to keep you cool.

    7. EAT FRESH AND HYDRATING FRUITS

    Eating fresh and summer-friendly fruits is the best way to stay healthy over the summer particularly if you live in a hot place. because During this time of year, the nutrients in such fruits are at their best.

    The following are some of the fruits that you can eat:

    • Tomatoes – this fruit not only includes vitamin C and antioxidants, but it also contains lycopene, which can help you fight chronic diseases like skin cancer.
    • Watermelon – When the weather gets hot, you need as much fluids as possible, which watermelon may provide. Watermelon has a lot of water, which keeps you cool and hydrated. Because it makes you feel full, the fruit might also help you avoid cravings.
    • Oranges – When you sweat, you lose potassium, which puts you at risk for muscle cramps. Oranges are high in potassium, which helps to prevent muscle cramps. Oranges also contain 80% water, which helps you stay hydrated.

     STAY SAFE THIS SUMMER

    We can’t stop winter or summer from happening, and we can’t make them anything other than what they are. We can’t say no to these gifts from the environment. However, as each one arrives, we must take care to safeguard ourselves. This summer, stay safe.
